vegan blog posts on everything from beauty to food.

Priti nail polish is all vegan and all natural. I love their colors and their nail polish but they’re not always what you see is what you get.

This is in the color Rabbit Tracks which was supposed to be a dark blue grey. It kind of looks like it in doors inside the bottle but once it’s on your nails it looks way darker and then outside it looks a bit more green. I still like the color but I was a bit dissapointed because it’s not what I thought it would be.

I used their 2 in 1 Top & Base coat for my base coat and for my top coat I used their Speedy Dry Top Coat. I used 2 coats for the color Rabbit Tracks. http://www.pritinyc.com/

So I’ve been using Yes To: Cucumbers for about a couple weeks and I LOVE it. This shampoo and conditioner is amazing for my hair and I love it’s refreshing cucumber scent. Let’s start off with what Yes To is and what they stand for.
Yes To is a skin and hair care brand. It’s most popular sub-brand is called Yes To Carrots which is also the name of their website. They have 3 more sub-brands which are Yes To Cucumbers, Yes To Tomatoes, and Yes To Blueberries. They donate 5% of their profits to their Yes To Seed Fund which assists communities by providing donations to help with seeds, plants, equipment, irrigation support and technical know-how. All their products are cruelty free and vegan with an exception to a few Yes To Carrots products and all lip care products which contain honey and/or beeswax which I will list at the end of the post.
So what is the difference between all of the sub-brands?
Yes To Carrots is for normal to dry skin and hair types. It nourishes dry skin and hair with carrots, Shea butter, and almond oil. Almond oil has amazing moisturizing benefits and is just as good as jojoba oil in the moisturizing category. Shea Butter not only is great for moisturizing but also for shielding your hair for the sun which can damage and dry out your hair. Carrots has many healing benefits because it is loaded with Vitamin A which is great for aging, dryness, acne and uneven skin tone.
Yes To Cucumbers is for sensitive skin and colour treated hair. It gently hydrates and soothes with organic cucumbers, aloe vera, and green tea. Aloe Vera is AMAZING for soothing inflamed skin or hair. I used to have an Aloe Vera plant in my back yard and every time I had a sun burn or my hair was dry I would squeeze it onto my skin/hair and smooth it all over. It moisturized my skin and hair and my sun burn didn’t hurt nearly as much after I used it. Green Tea is not only good for your insides but with all those vitamins and anti-oxidants it purifies your skin and hair and locks in hair color and moisture. Cucumbers is soothing and cooling and just all around amazing. There is a reason that people put cucumbers on their eyes. It decreases puffiness which is exactly what it does on the hair as well. When you color treat your hair or chemically treat it in anyways it softens and swells your hair which is like the puffiness under your eyes. The reason why your hair inflames is because chemicals are usually a 10 or higher on the ph scale and your hair is a 4.5. yes. Your hair is acidic. So you need something to bring it down and a cucumber is typically a 5.1-5.7 on the pH scale. So it will lock down your cuticle and seal all that colour and moisture.
Yes To Tomatoes is for combination or acne prone skin. It treats and prevents breakouts with tomatoes, salicylic acid, and witch hazel. Tomatoes has been a huge trend for skin care lately. People have found that red beats the red which essentially means tomatoes gets rid of any redness on the face. Salicylic acid is a plant hormone that is used in many over the counter acne medications. It is also used to treat other skin disorders including dandruff, psoriasis, calluses, corns, warts, and more. Witch Hazel is a shrub or small tree that flowers during the winter. Witch-hazel helps to shrink and contract blood vessels back to normal size and is used to treat acne.
Yes To Blueberries is for age-damaged or mature skin. It improves firmness and diminishes fine lines with blueberries, cotton thistle, and paracress flower. The paracress flower is typically used as numbing for tooth pain. So what does it do for the skin? It helps firm and rehydrate around the eye to reduce the appearance of fine lines and crow’s feet. Cotton thistle is a wild plant commonly known for its use for the treatment of burns. In regards to aging it hydrates age-damaged skin and helps boost natural collagen production and skin rejuvenation. The manganese in blueberries supports strong bones and its vitamin C supports the immune system. All these factors contribute to the anti-aging capability of this amazing fruit.
So I hope that gives you a better understanding of what Yes To is and what it does for your hair and skin. I use Yes To Tomatoes for my skin and it is looking clear already and my hair is feeling healthy incredibly healthy after using the Yes To Cucumbers shampoo and conditioner. My hair tends to get very knotty so I’ve been on the look out for an amazing conditioner that’s vegan. I found it and I hope that your search is over too.

Jojoba oil is amazing and whenever I suggest it to people to use I’m always surprised that they haven’t heard of it! Jojoba oil isn’t as expensive as everyone thinks and it lasts a long time because a little goes a long way.
Let’s get down to the facts.
-all natural/pure plant oil extract
-all over, long lasting moisturizer
-body absorbs it very well
-long shelf life
Jojoba oil can be used on your body from head to toe. I mostly use it on my hair but it can be used to moisturize skin anywhere on the body from the face to the feet. Spread it on your lips for a natural lip balm. Take off your makeup(foundation, eyeliner, mascara etc.) without drying out your skin or clogging your pores. Helps moisturize and protect skin while shaving or use it as a massage oil! Ask your partner to warm up a bit of jojoba oil and gently massage it into your feet, legs, arms, and or back!
Like I said though I use it on my hair and i’m going to share how I use it. I’m sure you’re thinking that oil used on the hair will make it greasy! eew! But it doesn’t as long as you use the right amount and wash your hair thoroughly with your favorite shampoo.
Heat Protectent:
1-3 drops of jojoba oil in your palm and spread it on your hands vigorously for a few seconds. Spread on the shafts and ends of your hair. Do not spread on the scalp/roots. Then take your blow dryer and your hair will be shiny and soft all day.
Conditioning/Scalp Treatment:
Take 10 drops of jojoba oil in your hand and spread it on your hands vigorously for a few seconds. Gently massage your scalp with the pads of your fingers. Spread the access oil all the way down to the ends of your hair and leave in for 10-20 minutes or over night. Wash thoroughly.
When used on your scalp it will act as sebum which your scalp produces naturally everyday. That’s what’s making your hair so oily when you haven’t washed in a while. But have you ever seen your hair be both oily and have dandruff? That means either you’ve been denying your scalp some suds or your scalp overproduced sebum. When you don’t wash the oil off of your scalp it starts to build up and dry out a bit which creates dandruff and if ignored for too long can turn into Malassezi which is a fungi! gross right? So be sure to not only condition your scalp and hair but wash it too!
One more thing! Jojoba oil also helps to get rid of lice! A trick to all those teachers and parents out there!

I bought this jojoba oil at my local Trader Joes. You can go to any local Health market and ask if they sell it.
